A fat quarter of flannel or homespun for backing
18" x 22" piece of blue woolfor background
9" x 13" piece of black wool for center oval
8" square of gray tweed wool for crow
6" square of light red wool for meat of watermelon
5" square of white wool for flag and watermelon
1 1/4" square of gold wood for crow's beak
2" square of blue for flag
2" x 4" piece of red for stripes on flag
6" square of red wool for cherries
4" x 12" piece of brown wool for branches and flagpole twig
8" square of green for leaves and watermelon rind
1 yard of white chenille yarn
black flannel for binding
quilting thread to match colors of wool (you could also use one strand of embroidery floss)
wool floss in white, black, green, and gold (perle cotton works fine for the detail stitching as well)
freezer paper for cutting out pattern pieces
