The Sweetheart Tree

This year Mother Nature has given us hot and hotter days in Arizona but thelocal weatherman has been doing a much better job here recently.Temperatures are dropping and we’re looking forward to wonderful cool Fallweather - and a Winter with NO SNOW!! For the present and until it coolsoff just a bit more we still take joy in the fact that the air conditioningis working so we can stitch in comfort.

We've been pretty busy here and we have 9 great new designs for Autumnstitching. They're all available for you to see right here in a quick littleslide show - something to tempt you to look further! At the beginning of 2011 we started off with a new series called"Quadrielles" which are four-sided decorative hanging ornaments - and -they're simply gorgeous!! This month were adding 2 more Quadrielles that wethink you’ll just adore. “QUAKER QUADRIELLE,” is monochromatic with adifferent Quaker flower motif on each of its four sides. We’ve worked ourmodel in deep rich Blue but the design can be worked in any color & you caneasily work it “over-one” for a very tiny Quadrielle. Next is “LAVENDERFIELDS QUADRIELLE” with sophisticated floral motifs worked on each side ingorgeous Purple shades. Each kit in the Quadrielle series is"all-inclusive" so everything needed to stitch them (except your stuffingmaterial) will be included in the kit for you.....even the needles! We’realso adding a special section on our website to show you a new way to finishyour Quadrielle and make it more sturdy. Read on to check out this new &helpful page.

For the sophisticated stitcher we have 2 jaw-dropping kits which are nowavailable to the public from an exclusive class in Colonial Williamsburg.The ”WILLIAMSBURG TEA CADDY TREASURE BOX” & “TEA CADDY TREASURE BOX FOB” aregorgeous pieces designed to coordinate with each other. Both use specialpiecing techniques to “join” White and Rue Green linens to form aspectacular box top and matching fob. They both have multiple decorativestitches & surface-work using bright Silver Japan Thread. Crystal-ClearPaillettes & petite beads finish each piece with special sparkle. Each kitgives explicit directions so that all stitch techniques will be easilyunderstood. These two projects are truly pieces of heirloom quality to bepassed down through your family for generations. Next, our Mini-series of "Welcome Kits" continues with "CHICKADEE WINTERWELCOME" - stitched on a soft blue linen this kit features a sweet littleChickadee perched on a pine bough with “Winter Berry” embellishments to addsome 3-dimensional interest. Since framing is so expensive these days we nowhave custom-cut mounting boards which are available through your localneedlework shop. The custom shaped boards come in a set of 2 - one for thefront and one for the back of your ornament & make finishing your ornament abreeze! Our French Alphabet series continues with “W Is For Witch.” As Halloweenapproaches I know you’ll fall head over heels for the darling and totally“un-scary” little Witch in this piece.... This all-inclusive kit is workedon Summer Khaki Linen and is embellished with Crème Pearls, a Crème PearlHeart & a sprinkling of beads. It will add a festive touch to your home forHalloween.

There are three quick new Teenie Tweenies this time.... CHRISTMAS FISHIN’ has a darling little Polar Bear doing a bit of “icefishing.” He’s a successful fisherman too as he’s just caught the cutestlittle Silver Fish! This will make the sweetest holiday ornament for yourtree & we now have custom-cut mounting boards so your ornament can look justlike the one on the cover. These are available through your localneedlework shop & come in a set of 2 - one for the front & one for the backof your ornament. They will make finishing your ornament a breeze!(Contact your local shop or The Sweetheart Tree for further information.) “TEENIE HARDANGER IV” & “TEENIE HARDANGER V” have coordinated rosebud floralmotifs worked in shades of Garnet, Mauve & Olive so they’ll work well as a“set” in your home. Both are perfect for beginners who want to try theirhand at Hardanger without feeling overwhelmed - one has a small diamondshaped Hardanger motif while the other has a small Hardanger Heart & bothwill sparkle in your home as they are adorned with our Crystal-ABPaillettes. We’ve added 2 new areas to our website both of which are listed to the left.Through trial & error we’ve developed a new finishing process to helpmaintain the shape of your Quadrielles and make them more sturdy. Atutorial has been added called “QUADRIELLE FINISHING TIPS” where we show thestep by step process we’re now using so that our Quadrielles will last foryears and years. This area includes photos with instructions which we’veused to build a tiny support box to insert inside a Quadrielle to maintainit’s shape. I really think you’re gonna like this! And, after so manywonderful conversations with stitchers on the phone & in classes we beenencouraged to add “A PEEK BEHIND THE SCENES.” We’ll start this time aroundwith the addition of our new office “partner.” This won’t be a regular“blog” but more like a periodic girlfriend chat & over time we’ll fill youin on some of the fun parts I’ve had being in this wonderful needleworkindustry.
