Hey, "Struggling"! Usually, the reason your stitches aren't smooth and even is because you are doing one of the following:
a.) you are not "scratching" across the surface of your fabric when you punch all the way to the base of the needle and pull out. You are instead pulling the needle away from the fabric before plunging back into it.
b.) something is holding the thread while you stitch (is your arm resting on the thread? Is it caught between your wrist and the embroidery hoop?)
Remember - punch needle is a very relaxed art. The reason it's so very appealing is because it requires very little thought and just plunging the needle in and out of fabric....ahhh....relaxation.
If this doesn't help you, please come on into the shop anytime Monday-Saturday 9 AM to 6 PM and let us help you out! Bring your project and we'll see what's going on.
We're also going to have our first classes next week, so signing up for one might help!
